Dena L. Southerlan, LCSW, LAC
Licensed Clinical Social Worker CSW.09924204
Licensed Addiction Counselor ACD.0000848
I received my MSW and my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Arizona State University, and practiced as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. In 1995, I co-created a substance abuse treatment agency in Arizona specializing in the treatment of addictions, trauma, marriage & family, & behavioral issues. I served as CO-CEO of the agency, and had both administrative and clinical duties. I developed and facilitated a comprehensive gender specific substance abuse treatment program, as well as an anger management & a parenting program. I worked with clients on issues of depression, anxiety, grief, and emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. I utilize a client-centered therapy approach, which includes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), & an Eclectic Treatment Orientation. I currently split my time between social work at the Vail Valley Medical Center and private practice. It is my passion to help people recover and to witness improvement in the quality of a client's life.
